Financial Family Law

We can provide you with legal advice, draft agreements and other legal documents, as well as assist you in disputes within the area of law known as financial family law. Financial family law refers to the part of law that concerns the economic relationships of spouses, cohabitants, or other family members.

As examples of areas within financial family law where we can assist you, the following can be mentioned:

Inheritance

We can provide you with legal advice on inheritance law issues such as determining who is entitled to inheritance, calculating how much a person is entitled to inherit, drafting or interpreting wills and other inheritance documents, and advising you on the actions you should take to assert your right to inheritance.

We can also act as your representative in inheritance negotiations and disputes, such as in connection with an estate inventory upon a request for adjustment or a challenge to a will.

Division of Property

If you are facing a division of property due to divorce or separation from your partner, we can help you through the process. We explain the applicable rules, calculate what you are entitled to in the division of property, and advise you on the actions you should take to assert your right.

If you prefer not to handle negotiations with your former spouse or partner yourself, we can represent you as your legal representative. This way, you can be sure that your rights are protected and that you receive what you are entitled to in the division of property.

Estate Inventory

When a person has passed away, the heirs are obliged to prepare an estate inventory, which must then be registered with the Swedish Tax Agency. We undertake assignments as estate inventory administrators and ensure that a correct estate inventory is prepared and registered.

If the heirs prefer not to handle the liquidation of the estate themselves, we can also manage the estate administration and both liquidate the estate and prepare and register the estate inventory.

International Financial Family Law

Many of our matters have international aspects. We have clients from all corners of the world, and we have assisted individuals who have found themselves on everything from the vast beaches of Australia or in the Amazon rainforests to the Spanish coast, just to mention a few examples. Simply put, it doesn't matter where you are - as long as you have an internet connection, we can assist you.

We not only assist those residing abroad who need help with Swedish economic family law. Even individuals residing in Sweden can be affected by international rules. This is especially true in international relationships where one of the spouses or partners is a foreign citizen, or if a couple has been residing abroad for an extended period. In these situations, there is often uncertainty about whether Swedish law should be applied to various issues, such as the division of property following a divorce.

Divorce

Applying for a divorce is simple. It is much more difficult to determine when it is appropriate to apply for a divorce and what actions you should take before applying for a divorce. Not to mention all the financial matters that need to be sorted out after the divorce.

If it is your partner who has applied for a divorce, it can become even more complicated. Then you may need to react quickly to get an overview of what the divorce means for you and what actions you should take to assert your rights, especially in connection with the division of property.

We are here for you both before, during, and after the divorce. In addition to helping you plan the divorce, if possible, we ensure that you receive what you are entitled to after the divorce.
